As part of a campaign staring footballer Gareth Bale, HEINEKEN UK is giving away 30,000 pints of its no alcohol lager Heineken® 0.0 to encourage consumers back into pubs during January – usually the worst month of the year for the sector.
Available in 2,500 participating pubs across England, Scotland & Wales, drinkers can redeem a free pint or bottle of Heineken® 0.0 at the bar by either scanning a QR code in venue or clicking through on social channels.
Heineken® 0.0 is also aiming to support pubs by using digital outdoor advertising to promote the campaign, using location-based data to call out the pubs by name, and how long it would take to walk there. Participating pub companies include Stonegate, Admiral Proper Pubs, and Amber Taverns.
The giveaway launches as part of Heineken® 0.0’s ‘Don’t Bale on Your Mates’ advertising campaign, featuring Heineken® 0.0 brand ambassador, Gareth Bale. The campaign is live across socials, Youtube & video-on demand alongside an influencer plan which includes Britain’s Got Talent winner Axel Blake and football content creator, John Jancewicz.
Stephanie Dexter, Brand Lead: Heineken® at HEINEKEN UK, said, “An estimated 9m adults attempt Dry January each year here in the UK and 50% of those people make up an excuse to avoid going out to the pub to drink with friends. As the UK’s #1 No & Low brand, we wanted to ensure Heineken® 0.0 was supporting the Great British pub in the fridge and on the bar to encourage drinkers back into venue – a win for publicans and punters alike.”
“Spending time with friends and family, while supporting our fantastic pub sector is so important at this time of year, so we encourage you and your mates to not ‘Gareth Bale’, and grab a free pint of Heineken® 0.0 this January.”
