Callum Beattie is capping off a blockbuster year with the launch of his own premium vodka, named after his forthcoming album Indi, in partnership with Scottish drinks producer MaverX.
The vodka, a smooth, small-batch spirit with a distinctive black hue that changes when poured over ice, was developed with Beattie’s long-time manager and creative partner Dave Rogers to coincide with the build-up to the independently produced album, due out January 2026.
The Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter, who will headline a sold-out show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 22 November, said, “I didn’t know much about making spirits but I felt I had plenty of experience in that area, on the other side. It seemed like a cool thing to do and it is something we fancied getting involved in, but only if it was genuine, not just an endorsement on a bottle. We went along and really were part of the whole thing, on taste and look and the whole brand too.”
He added: “So it’s genuinely the drink I would want to have myself – I love how it changes colour in the glass with ice. And it’s so smooth it’s really good straight too.”
Graeme Clark of MaverX, which is known for its experimental small-batch production, said, “This vodka was crafted on Scotland’s east coast, at a specialist small-batch distillery. Working with the distilling team there allowed Callum to lean into the kind of refined, independent spirit he was after: something high-quality, approachable, yet uncompromising.
“The collaboration process involved Callum and Dave bouncing ideas off each other and working side-by-side with the distillers. Callum was very clear what he didn’t want—no unnecessary gimmicks, no harsh edge, no compromise on drinkability. He insisted it should stand equally well neat or in a high-end mixed serve.”
Dave Rogers added, “The opportunity came along to make our own Scottish spirit and it was one of those things we had talked about for years – we have all sorts of crazy ideas for things we can do together outside of music. The timing felt good because the record was done and we thought it would be cool to have our own vodka for all those Christmas nights out and after parties around the shows.”
