Edinburgh Gin, which is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, has claimed top honours at the 9th annual Scottish Gin Awards, taking home Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year and Gin Tourist Destination of the Year.
The brand also secured the Scottish Gin of the Year award for its Classic Gin, as well as four further gold medals across key categories: Cannonball in the High Strength category, Old Tom in the Old Tom category, The Classic in the London Dry category, and Rhubarb & Ginger in the Liqueur category.
The independent competition is one of the largest gin competitions in the UK, and entrants are judged by a panel of experts drawn from across the industry, recognising the best in distilling, innovation and visitor experience across the country.
This recognition comes just ten months after the opening of Edinburgh Gin’s new distillery beneath the city’s historic East Market Street arches. Designed with both production and visitor experience in mind, the carbon-neutral facility has welcomed over 29,000 visitors through its doors since December 2024. The site offers a range of experiences including guided tastings, cocktail workshops, and gin-making masterclasses and visitors can also enjoy drinks at the Distillery Bar and, during summer months, two rooftop terraces overlooking the city.
Sarah Prior, Head of Sales and Marketing at Edinburgh Gin Brand Home, said, “To be named both Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year and Gin Tourist Destination of the Year is an incredible honour and a proud recognition of our team’s passion and dedication. Our new distillery is more than a place of production, it’s a celebration of Edinburgh’s heritage, innovation and creativity. We’re proud that our brand home has become a place where visitors can discover the spirit of Edinburgh, through our gins, our people and the stories that inspire them.”
