Roxy Leisure is bringing its popular competitive socialising concept to Glasgow, having secured a licence for a Roxy Ball Room at 185 Sauchiehall Street, the former Sports Direct unit.

The company plans to invest around £1.6m in the new site, which will offer ten pin bowling, pool, ping pong and shuffleboard as well as a bar and food offer. Around 40 full and part-time jobs are expected to be created, with alcohol sales permitted until midnight.

DRAM reported in 2023 that the company had received planning approval for an Argyle Street site, the former JJB Sports shop. The firm has now told Glasgow’s Licensing Board it intends to surrender that licence, with the Sauchiehall Street venue replacing it.

Roxy Leisure already operates in Scotland through Roxy Lanes in Edinburgh and has venues in more than 10 cities across the UK.
