Glasgow hospitality veterans Jim McLaughlin and David Low have acquired The Left Bank on Gibson Street in the city’s West End, in a deal for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase brings the venue under new local ownership, with both McLaughlin and Low living in the West End. The pair have extensive experience in the licensed trade, with a portfolio that includes McPhabbs, The Arlington, The Dram, YesBar, The Black Sparrow and The Star Bar.

Opened in 2005, The Left Bank has traded for two decades on Gibson Street, building a reputation for its distinctive split-level interior and a menu centred on locally sourced ingredients.

McLaughlin said, “The Left Bank is one of those places that already means something to people. It has history, character and a loyal following, and that’s something we really respect. Our plan is to refresh the venue, build on what’s already there, and take it into its next chapter as it heads towards this big milestone year. We’re also really looking forward to working with the amazing team here and building on the strong reputation the venue already has.”

The Left Bank celebrates its 20th anniversary in July.
