Quartet of awards for Orkney Brewery

The Orkney Brewery has scooped up four awards – including two golds – at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) Scotland Beer competition, held in Edinburgh at the beginning of July. The brewery’s 5.0 ABV Wayfarer IPA
took the top spot in the Strong Bitters category of the, with the 4.5 ABV Golden Amber securing a first place in the Speciality Beers section. Bronze awards for the 10 ABV Dark Island Reserve and the 4.9 ABV Red Macgregor, in the Premium Strong Beers and Bottled Bitter categories respectively, added to the Orkney Brewery haul. Norman Sinclair, managing director of Sinclair Breweries Ltd, said: “To come away from such an important event with no less than four awards, two of which are gold, is quite an achievement and everyone at the brewery is immensely proud. We always enjoy pitting our beers against the best in the country and view these awards as confirmation we’re maintaining our very high standards.”
