Caledonia Best Clubhouse Captain Sam Torrance has been unveiled as European Vice Captain for the 2014 Ryder Cup. Torrance was selected by Team Captain Paul McGinley with whom he enjoyed Ryder Cup success in 2002. Torrance has a special connection with the Ryder Cup tournament having featured as a player eight times, winning titles on four occasions in 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1995. His other victory came as Captain at the Belfry in 2002, where ironically, Paul McGinley sank the winning put for the Europeans.Sam Torrance, Caledonia Best Clubhouse Captain said, “It’s a huge honour for me to be selected as European Vice Captain. I have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the tournament and to be part of the team aiming to retain the trophy on Scottish soil is something very special.
“It’s also set to be an exciting year with Caledonia Best in my role as Clubhouse Captain. We have some great activity lined up for Scottish golf fans in what is a massive year for golf in Scotland. It should be a lot of fun!”
