Tennent’s Beer Aged with Whisky Oak is a new premium offering from Tennent’s The company has just started rolling the beer out, but it already has got listings at some first class venues including Gleneagles, Inverlochy Castlel Hotel and the Torridon Hotel. With an ABV of 6%, the new brew is aged alongside single malt whisky-infused oak chips.
Paul Condron, Tennent’s marketing director, comments, “As the oldest and largest brewery in Scotland we feel we are in a great position to combine our beer heritage with the nation’s other favourite drink, whisky. Reaction to the beer has been extremely positive both at home and in international markets.”
Brewer Innis & Gunn already have a range of beers aged in whisky, bourbon and rum barrels but the first whisky and beer collaboration was in fact carried out by a whisky company who produced whisky which for the last part of the process was aged in beer barrels!
