anCnoc will unveil a new addition to its Peaty Collection later this month with the launch of Stack, a full-bodied, sweet and smoky expression.
The Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky brand will release 6000 bottles of the limited edition on 24 September.
anCnoc brand manager Stephanie Allison said, “We’re excited for the release of Stack as it complements the existing collection perfectly. Whilst Peaty connoisseurs will revel in its smooth smoky notes, we would encourage all whisky connoisseurs looking for something different to explore this beautifully crafted expression.”
Stack the latest in a range of individual expressions named after traditional peat-cutting tools, some of which are still used to this day. Its name refers to the last step in the gathering process, where the peat blocks are stored together to dry ahead of being burnt.
Matured for more than 10 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, we’re told Stack’s initial smoky aroma is gently pierced by accents of lemons and oranges which slowly give way to the softer sweetness of honey and vanilla. Earthy peat smoke is overlaid with dark chocolate, cut through with the fruity tang of green apples.
