Boutique Scotch whisky producer, The Lost Distillery Company, has moved to a country estate as it pursues plans to expand its workforce and develop whisky production in Ayrshire.

The Ayrshire-based firm, which revives whiskies from long closed distilleries across Scotland, has relocated to Dumfries House. The 2000-acre estate was saved from falling into disrepair by HRH The Duke of Rothesay in 2007.

The Lost Distillery Company is owned by Crucial Drinks’ founders Scott Watson and Brian Woods. Plans for its new premises include a Whisky Lounge and VIP Hospitality Bar, along with office space for ten employees who manage the business across 40 global markets, generating sales of £2million.

Staff numbers are expected to double in the next few years and apprenticeship opportunities will be created in East Ayrshire, as part of the company’s future growth plans.

Scott Watson, Co-Founder of Crucial Drinks and The Lost Distillery Company, said, “The overall aim of our company is to build a world-class global whisky business in East Ayrshire. Headquartering our operation at this incredible 18th Century estate is a clear demonstration of our commitment to achieving this.

“Our new home on the estate provides the perfect platform to breathe life into Scotland’s lost whisky heritage.”
