Mike McGinty, General Manager of The Voyage of Buck in Edinburgh is to compete in the grand final of the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition in Mexico later this month.
The Edinburgh bartender bagged his place in the final after being named 2016’s UK Patrón Perfectionist champion at the tequila brand’s national competition last November.
He beat six of the UK’s leading bartenders to create the “perfect” Patrón cocktail, winning with his creation The Bell of Jalisco, a blend of Patrón Reposado, chamomile infused vermouth and a yellow bell pepper shrub.
He will represent The Voyage of Buck and independent bar group Big Red Teapot against a six other world class bartenders from Mexico, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, France, Spain and Italy in newly built La Casona Guest House on the grounds of Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico, the home of Patrón Tequila’s distillery.
Each international bartender will bring their craft and creativity to compete for the prestigious honour of being the first global Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition winner, decided by a panel of expert judges.
The final takes place on January 25.
