Mitchell & Butlers has begun redundancy consultations with staff in its 20 Glasgow pubs including The Lauder’s, The Auctioneers, All Bar One Glasgow, Miller & Carter, The Drum and Monkey (pictured) and The Horseshoe Bar.
The company announced the start of redundancy consultations with a number of its 44,000 staff earlier this month citing falling sales and COVID-19 trade restrictions. The Harvester, O’Neill’s and All Bar One did say that it hoped to redeploy affected staff wherever possible.
Last month it reported a 35% fall in sales over the year.
Said an M&B spokesperson, “With trading restrictions and uncertainty likely to continue for the foreseeable future, we strongly urge the government to step up the level of support it is offering to an industry that has been repeatedly singled out and taken the full brunt of restrictions.”
