Fife, Perth and Kinross and Angus will move from level 2 to level 3 from Friday because of an increase in Covid cases following the first weekly review of Scotland’s five-tier framework, Nicola Sturgeon has announced. This means pubs and restaurants in those areas will no longer be allowed to serve alcohol.
The most recent data shows that the number of cases per 100,000 of the population has increased by 32% in Perth and Kinross, by 40% in Fife, and by 47% in Angus in the space of a week.
She also said that several other areas are giving her cause for concern and will be closely monitored in the week ahead.
People in Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles will now be able to meet inside their homes with one other household from Friday.
The first minister said, “I know this will be disappointing to residents and businesses in these areas.
“However, by acting now, we can hopefully prevent an even more serious deterioration in the situation.”
