Congratulations are in order after two Scottish restaurants achieved their first Michelin stars – The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant in Crieff and Unalome by Graeme Cheevers in Glasgow. Both restaurants are less than a year old.
The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant Head Chef Mark Donald previously held a star at his former restaurant Number One at The Balmoral in Edinburgh while Graeme Cheevers had also gained Michelin stars at former restaurants at Isle or Eriska and Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond.
The latter also has the distinction of being only the second Glasgow restauranteur to hold a Michelin Star – the first in 18 years was achieved by Lorna McNee at Cail Bruich last year, and she has retained it. Other Scottish restaurants who also retained their stars were The Kitchin and Martin Wishart in Leith, The Cellar in Anstruther, Condita in Edinburgh and Loch Bay on the Isle of Skye, with Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles securing its two Michelin starts for another year.
The Glenturret Lalique RestaurantThe restaurant which is situated at The Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest working distillery was launched by French crystal house, Lalique, last July and is Scotland’s first in-distillery fine dining concept
Speaking about the Michelin achievement, Chef Mark Donald said, “I am so proud that Michelin have acknowledged the hard work, creativity and dedication from my team – and everyone at The Glenturret. Our Scottish heritage and surroundings are vital to the heart and soul of the restaurant.”
