Makars Gourmet Mash opens in London

Edinburgh’s Makars Gourmet Mash has opened a new restaurant in London’s Shaftsbury Avenue. With two venues in Edinburgh this is their third venue, and first outside of Edinburgh. They also operate a seasonal site in the Lake District.

The food is all about using the best Scottish ingredients and upgrading the classic dishes such as rare breed pork Scotch Egg, Wold Boar, Smoked Salmon, neeps and tatties and Scottish oyster mushrooms in Irn-Bru BBQ sauce. As the name suggests, mash is a big part of the offering with nine options available from the classic through to mash with Stornoway black pudding or a vegan olive oil mash.

Edinburgh’s Makars Gourmet Mash have won a number of awards including OpenTable’s Diners’ Choice Award in 2020 as well as winning TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 4 years in a row.
