The Mercat Grill, the family run, dog friendly bar and restaurant in Whitecraig, East Lothian has raised £1,400 for the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home (edch) from its charity doggy events, which run on the first Saturday of every month.

Katie Kennedy, development executive at the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home (edch) said, “The support from businesses like the Mercat Grill mean the world to everyone at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, including our furry friends! A £1,400 donation helps massively towards the running of our services, and will ensure that the dogs, cats and humans who come to the home desperately seeking our help, get the respect, care and attention they need this winter.  Thank you!”

Owner of the Mercat Grill, Graham Blaikie said: “We are passionate about dogs and cats and with becoming a dog owner this year for the first time – it’s fuelled my motivation to do even more for those animals that need our support.

“The edch do a crucial job in providing a safe shelter for owners that can no longer care for their dogs and cats and with the cost-of-living crisis, resulting in more animals needing help – we need to do everything we can to help support this charity.”

The venue has also produced 2023 Doggy Charity Calendars which features many of the establishment’s top dog customers – with all proceeds going to the edch.
