Holyrood Distillery has teamed up with Pilot Beer to create an exclusive New Make Spirit for The Mash Up 2023, Holyrood x Pilot White Stout Recipe New Make Spirit. It will be available exclusively at Holyrood Distillery from 2 June, the opening day of the Edinburgh’s beer and whisky festival.

The recipe for Holyrood’s latest New Make Spirit mirrors that of Pilot Beer’s White Stout and echoes the urban distillery’s ethos of marrying craft traditions from both brewing and distilling, and bold new approaches to flavour.

Matt Johnson, Founder of Pilot, described the liquid as:, “A beer style, roasty and malty in character. A spectrum of speciality malts really layer up those delightfully sweet, toasted flavours.”

Launched in Summer 2022, The Mash Up  brings together more than 600 beer and whisky lovers to Edinburgh’s Southside, in a three-day beer and whisky event.  Holly Aynsley, Events Manager for Holyrood Distillery, says, “From 2 – 4 June, those joining us for the Mash Up will be the first to taste Holyrood x Pilot White Stout Recipe New Make Spirit. Not only will it be pouring all weekend but our latest creation will take pride of place in our New Make Spirit Masterclass on Sunday.

“We’re dedicated to delivering spirits that are truly worthy of Scotland’s capital city and its proud past as a centre of brewing and distilling. Our latest collaboration with Pilot Beer offers the perfect example of this.

“We’ll also be bringing back last year’s top seller – Pilot x Charmed Circle Lager which will be on tap exclusively at Mash Up. This lager marked the start of our series of collaborations with our neighbour, Leith based Pilot Beer.”

With the lineup for Mash Up 2023 now confirmed, final tickets for The Mash Up 2023 are now on sale. Holyrood Distillery are gearing up to welcome the likes of Barney’s Beer, Vault City Brewing, The Borders Distillery and Annandale Distillery, who will take over their Distillery and celebrate the best of new wave, new world and other stand out whiskies, alongside the best and newest craft beers from the city’s craft brewing scene.
