Elements of Islay has announced the launch of Beach Bonfire. The limited edition blended whisky of just 288 bottles and with an ABV of 57.2% will be exclusively available at the Islay festival, Fèis Ìle, happening between 26th May to 3rd June 2023. It is the first release from Elements of Islay since the re-launch of its core range last autumn, and like the rest of the range, it’s non-chill filtered and retains its natural colour.
Oliver Chilton, the Elixir Distillers’ Head Blender, took his creative cues from a beach bonfire, where the interplay of colours, smoke, flames, and sand capture the distinctive spirit and terroir of Islay. He says, “We’re thrilled to present this blended malt for Fèis Ìle 2023. Beach Bonfire weaves together three distinct Islay spirits matured in varied cask styles, reimagining the evocative atmosphere of Islay’s coast by bonfire light into a glass of whisky – a new milestone in our journey as blenders.”
Launching their first limited bottling at one of the most significant whisky festivals, Fèis Ìle, seemed fitting for the brand and to commemorate the release, Elements of Islay will host several events during the festival. Among these, a masterclass led by Distillery Manager Georgie Crawford, presenting Elements of Islay and Beach Bonfire alongside other Elixir Distillers’ expressions, is scheduled for Tuesday 30th May at the Independent Bottling Fair, and on 1st June, an evening of drams, cocktails, and music will take place at ‘The Snug’, Lochside Hotel Bar, Bowmore.
“Fèis Ìle is one of the biggest celebrations of whisky and Islay. With our Portintruan distillery under construction, introducing our very first Elements of Islay Festival Blended Malt feels like a natural progression in our journey,” added Lisa Everingham, Marketing Director at Elixir Distillers.
