With inflation, kitchen staff shortages and rising wages making it harder and more costly for pubs to deliver food, Star Pubs & Bars is offering its leased & tenanted licensees the opportunity to use dishes from its Just Add Talent (JAT) managed operator pubs’ menu.

It means that licensees can create their own bespoke menu in a standard kitchen selecting the dishes they want from Star’s managed pub food offer. With over 200 pub favourites including starters, mains, desserts and snacks, the JAT menu includes classic dishes, such as hand-battered fish & chips and a cheese & bacon burger, as well as new small plates dishes like Desperados chilli nachos, sweetcorn ribs and plant-based Shicken Tikka – the introduction of these dishes has almost doubled the number of starters sold to customers having a main.

The pub group are providing licensees recipe sheets that give preparation instructions and portion sizes, along with allergen sheets and pricing with Gross Profits built in, and the package comes with ready-made menu designs, with licensees only paying for print and the option to have an individual design.

With ingredients purchased through Brakes, it means operators will get the same discounted prices that Star has negotiated for its managed pubs, and these prices are being guaranteed for six months.

Says Karl Watts, Star Pubs & Bars’ Food Development Manager, “Delivering a successful menu has never been more challenging and time consuming for licensees. This new support is designed to make it hassle-free to offer customers good quality food that is also profitable for the pub.”
