London events company, Camm & Hooper have bought Platform, the events venue ‘under the arches’ in Glasgow. It is their first venture beyond London, marking it a significant expansion of its portfolio, which already includes venues such as OXO2, Banking Hall, and Jeru Mayfair. It is now looking for other venues in Scotland, Manchester, and Leeds.
The Camm & Hooper story started back in 2013 when founder, Claire Lawson, set about to disrupt the “sleepy world of events” with a vision to do things differently. “Out would go boring linen tablecloths, poor production values and rows of identikit waiters holding trays of warm fizz. In would come a company where wonderful venues, fabulous food & drink and a dedicated team would curate a new era of magical events”.
Platform features six restored arches across 35,000 sq ft with flexible capacity for up to 600 seated guests across three arches or 1,800 standing. Camm & Hooper say that this unique structure with its historical significance were key elements that fit the Camm & Hooper’s ethos of preserving the stories of its locations.
Scott McCormick, the managing director of Platform, remains in his role and will continue to manage and develop the venue’s operations along with his team.
Derick Martin, the CEO of Camm & Hooper, who hails from Scotland, has said that the acquisition of Platform Glasgow was a “homecoming” and he intends to bring the company’s signature flair to the venue and help to enhance it’s status as a premier location for exceptional events.
