Outlander star Sam Heughan’s Sassenach Gin secures first UK listing with Kitchin Group

Chef Tom Kitchin has joined forces with Scottish Outlander actor Sam Heughan, as Kitchin’s quartet of Scottish venues become the first in the UK to list Heughan’s new gin, The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin. It is the second spirit in Sam Heughan’s Sassenach Spirits range and follows the successful launch of The Sassenach Whisky in the UK in late 2022.

A London dry-style gin, The Sassenach Gin is distilled with foraged botanicals from Dumfries and Galloway, where Heughan grew up. Scottish juniper marries with rhubarb, heather, pine, bramble leaf, blaeberry, crab apple, and toasted oats to create a well-balanced classic.

The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin was released in the US in the summer and has already scooped Gold at the 2023 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, the Singapore World Spirits Competition, the Spirits Business Autumn Tasting, and the Beverage Testing Institute.

It launched in the UK with a limited release in late October.  Sam Heughan, co-founder of Sassenach Spirits said, “The Sassenach Whisky has been a hard act to follow, but we are sure that diners and drinkers at Chef Tom Kitchin’s fantastic Scottish venues will appreciate our award-winning Wild Scottish Gin – especially when paired with the incredible Scottish seasonal dishes on offer.  A true taste of the glorious Scottish landscape awaits.”
