Scotland already a winner as Germany game expected to be best of tournament for pubs

As the nation looks forward to the start of Euro 2024, Greene King says that it expects to sell 40,000 pints across its Belhaven pubs estate as Scotland take on Germany in the tournaments opening game tonight.

Across the wider UK estate, Greene King say that Germany and Scotland is expected to be among the most popular of the tournament, with customers expected to buy more than 415,000 pints across the 90 minutes. The pub company is also anticipating a big turnout for England’s first match against Serbia on Sunday, when it expects that more than 250,000 pints across the country – with 15,000 of those pints being sold in Scotland.

Greene King CEO, Nick Mackenzie, said, “The local pub has always been at the heart of the community, and that is never clearer than during sporting events.

“This year’s Euro’s is the start of a fantastic summer of sport that will be a great boost for the hospitality sector. During the tournament, we’re expecting to welcome even more people through our doors as fans unite to cheer on their teams.”
