As Six by Nico Edinburgh West opens its doors to its second site in the city this week, the restaurant is taking a trip down memory lane and launching with its menu called ‘The Chippie’.
The first menu for the Queensferry Street restaurant has its origins in the Glasgow chip shop that was owned by Nico Simeone’s grandparents and it provides chip shop inspired six courses including Chips & Cheese, Fish Supper, Smoked Sausage, and a Deep-Fried Mars Bar.
The design roots for the interior concept are inspired by the number SIX, and designers Studio Two developed ideas for Six by Nico by using the six-legged dragonfly as its muse, honing in on characteristics of the insect’s body form, colour, and natural habitat.
CEO and chef, Nico Simeone, said, “We’ve been lucky to call Edinburgh part of our Six by Nico community since 2018, and we’re really excited to be opening a second restaurant, right in the heart. The existing venue was the only second location for the group and so, Edinburgh will always have a place in our hearts. The community and support we have had here has been amazing.
“We hope this affords people the chance to experience Six by Nico. The Chippie first appeared back in 2017, so it’s great to be bringing back our much-loved debut menu consisting of the crowd favourite Irn Bru sorbet. We look forward to welcoming guests both new and regulars from today who we have come to know.”
