SHG urge operators to sign Open Letter to Scottish Government ahead of Scottish Budget

Stephen Montgomery
Stephen Montgomery of the Scottish Hospitality Group is urging Scottish licensees and their teams to sign an open letter to the Scottish Government to take action to support the hospitality industry in the upcoming budget in December.

He comments, “The existing non-domestic rates system unfairly penalises the hospitality sector, which is the lifeblood of our economy and our communities.”We are therefore calling on the Scottish Government to support this vital sector, with a number one ask, of introducing an immediate poundage reduction to 35p in the pound for all licensed hospitality premises in the coming budget. We are also urging them to continue their work with us, to act on a long-term replacement for the punitive business rates system, ahead of the 2026 revaluation.

He adds “By adding your support, we can ensure that Scotland’s hospitality sector receives the support it needs to thrive. Please also feel free to send this around your managers as they are also able to sign as an individual, or to your fellow colleagues operating in the sector.”
