A new pan-Asian restaurant is opening in Glasgow’s Finnieston this month in the first restaurant venture from chef Tobias Fiegel. Extra_Ordinary will launch in the former Sole Club site on Argyle Street on January 31, offering an all-day dining concept that blends Japanese, Korean and Chinese cuisines.
The Australian-Italian chef, who has now settled in Scotland, honed his craft in Sydney venues including Sean’s Panorama, Black Star Pastry, and Edition Coffee Roasters, before gaining experience at Copenhagen’s Geranium, Finland’s Restaurant Ask, and locally at both Aizle under Stuart Ralston and with Nico Simeone at Six by Nico.
The menu features dishes such as Kohlrabi Kimchi and Yuzu-Kosho tomato sashimi, alongside a drinks offering that includes sake and Asian-inspired cocktails.
Tobias Fiegel said, “Opening Extra_Ordinary is an incredibly exciting opportunity offered to me by Nico Simeone that enables me to combine my passion for various Asian cuisines and share them with the people of Glasgow.
“In essence, this is the food I enjoy cooking and eating, and in this sleek and stylish environment, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with ingredients and creative approaches that I am genuinely passionate about”.
