Clydeside Containers, due to open on Glasgow’s Broomielaw in late spring, have announced the first of their food vendors with the news that Vegan junk food brand, Rabbit Food, are coming to the site.

Founded by Gavin and Rab, Rabbit Food has made a name of itself in Edinburgh with their approach to plant-based dining with their punk rock-inspired, “filthy vegan menu”, and in the first episode of the Clydeside Containers podcast today, Rabbit Food’s founders spoke with host Billy Kirkwood about their journey from pop-up events to securing a full-time location in Glasgow. They reveal that their decision to launch Rabbit Food came from their frustration with the lack of creative and satisfying options in the market. “When we first started, vegan food was just quinoa bowls and salads,” said Rab. “We wanted to bring something indulgent, a treat you wouldn’t make at home, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

On the new Glasgow venture, Gavin says, “We’ve been working hard to make sure the Glasgow location has the same energy and vibe that people love about Rabbit Food. It’s not just about the food – it’s about creating an experience. We’re combining nostalgia, punk rock, and a little bit of chaos into every dish.”

Clydeside Containers is the brainchild of the team behind Max’s Bar, La Cheetah, Room 2 and Mikaku. and it’s promising a new social and entertainment venue on the banks of the Clyde. The dining hub will offer a range of world street food from seven “hand-picked food vendors that bring a world of flavours to the heart of Glasgow”. The “Drinks Container” will focus on craft drinks while the live entertainment includes a rotating lineup of local acoustic performers, live bands, comedians, and DJs.
