Mezcal brings street-level Mexican energy to Edinburgh

Mexican concept Mezcal has officially opened in Edinburgh, bringing its bold taco-led menu, frozen margaritas, and party-ready concept to Teviot Place.

First launched on Hope Street, Glasgow in 2019, Mezcal has developed a fiercely loyal following for its no-rules approach to Mexican street food and cocktails. What started as a single venue has evolved into a movement — complete with a roaming taco truck, and a flagship Glasgow site set to launch in summer 2025.

Edinburgh’s new Mezcal site sticks close to the original formula: smoky flavours, loud interiors, mezcal-fuelled drinks, and food designed to share. The menu includes Cochinita Pibil pork, Veracruz-style fish with chipotle garlic mayo, vegan Calabaza, burritos, nachos and taco sets — with dishes pitched to suit varied diets.

The venue is designed with groups and events in mind, featuring neon décor, DJs, and themed collaborations. And to mark the capital opening, Mezcal’s roaming taco truck is popping up across the city — handing out free tacos, merch, and the occasional mariachi-backed surprise.
