Leftfield, the Bruntsfield neighbourhood restaurant by Rachel Chisholm and Phil White which first opened in 2017, has reopened after a short break for refurbishment, complete with new menu and look and with the same team in place.
The design update brings a brighter, more relaxed atmosphere to the venue, with light plaster walls, window boxes, and oak-topped bar. Downstairs, the private dining room offers a contrasting mood, with its dark green colours along with sculptural green marble table.
The new bistro-inspired menu mixes Mediterranean influences with classical techniques with a greater focus on meat and vegetable dishes while retaining some of its favourite dishes, including its hot seafood platters.
Wine Manager Lola Chisholm White has also expanded the wine list to feature a broader selection of minimal intervention bottles and a new take-home offering via Leftfield’s bottle shop. The cocktail and non-alcoholic drinks list, designed by Restaurant Manager Luque Perez , now includes house-infused spirits and seasonal cordials, all made in-house.
Rachel Chisholm, co-founder, said, “We have been on this sunny corner of Bruntsfield for eight years through many different phases and challenges.
“Being a restaurateur has not been easy these past few years, but we are still here and we wanted to celebrate that by bringing a lightness back into our rooms. The new dining room is a beautiful airy space, with the best views in Edinburgh and our menu reflects how we want to eat – really good, tasty food prepared with a light touch so the fabulous ingredients we source can speak for themselves.
“Our wine list is a joy, it’s a real pleasure to serve such beautiful wines by the glass and to see our guests exploring different regions and styles. With the whole family on board and a brilliant restaurant manager, I’m so excited for our future.”
