The Buck’s Bar Group has revealed plans to open a brand-new Buck’s Bar in the heart of St Andrews, taking over the site at 6 Murray Place – home to the legendary Ziggy’s since 1983, and once a favourite haunt of Prince William during his university days.

Barry McNeil at Cornerstone Business Agents arranged the meeting with Ziggy’s owners Phil and Annie just a few weeks ago, and the off market deal was then concluded with help from David Orr at Aberdein Considine. Shopfit partners, Vertice Projects, will begin work at the start of June and Bucks Bar are aiming to be open by late August.

It marks the group’s sixth Buck’s Bar location, joining their growing portfolio which includes Thundercat Pub + Diner and ThunderDog Pub + Diner which is due to open on Glasgow’s Byres Road later this month.

Bucks Bar Group Owner, Michael Bergson, told DRAM, “We’ve always wanted to get into St Andrews but it’s a really difficult place to find a venue. St Andrews has an exciting bar and restaurant scene, and we’re just delighted that they approached us to find out if we were interested in an off-market deal. The whole deal was completed seamlessly – Phil and Annie have successful operated Ziggy’s for 42 years and we’re really excited about taking over the unit.”
