The Edinburgh Grand on St Andrew Square has reopened as Scotland’s first hotel under Marriott’s Luxury Collection brand.
Owned and operated by the Chris Stewart Group, it joins a portfolio of more than 130 hotels worldwide and becomes the fourth UK location, following London, Buckinghamshire and Manchester.
Originally the headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland, the building has undergone a light refurbishment and repositioning to target the extended-stay and leisure markets which includes upgrades to 33 rooms, the foyer, executive lounge and retail space, as well as enhancements to the fitness centre and The Register Club. The property is also home to a number of hospitality venues including Lady Libertine café-bar, Hawksmoor Edinburgh restaurant, and The Vault, now repurposed as a private event and whisky tasting space.
Phase two, due later this year, will see the final rooms completed and a new spa concept introduced.
General Manager Emre Pasli said, “The Edinburgh Grand has long been distinguished for its unique history as the former headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Becoming part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection allows us to honour that legacy through thoughtful experiences, exceptional service and a sense of place that seamlessly blends timeless charm with the unique essence of Scotland.”
