Bruce MacGregor and his wife Jo De Sylva who co-own MacGregor’s in Inverness, the bar that has a reputation as one of the best places to enjoy Scottish music, have taken over the Whisky Vaults in Oban. The previous owners, John and Helen MacLellan, along with their daughter, Maisie, have managed the popular venue for 7 years.
The Whisky Vaults is a 10 bedroom hotel with front bar, main bar and beer garden and, although there is a small name change to MacGregor’s at The Whisky Vaults, the couple say that they won’t be won’t be making any major changes. They will keep the character of the venue while introducing their own Highland style “so The Whisky Vaults will still remain the special place it has become.”. The Worq Group are partners in the venture and they will be overseeing the rooms and food.
MacGregors said, “We’re looking forward to sharing some of the fantastic craft beers from Cromarty Brewing Co Dog Falls Brewing Co and Cairngorm Brewery as well as our own speciality Scottish Icon Cocktails, and of course there will be MUSIC….lots of it!”
Bruce MacGregor told DRAM, “We looks at so many places right across Scotland and when Jonathan from Worq and Brian Davidson introduced us to the Whisky Vaults we knew within an hour that is was exactly what we had been looking for.
“We will add the music sessions, cocktails and beer and maybe a lick of paint but there really is very little to change because it already has such a good whisky reputation and great staff who are all staying.”
