Diageo and Springboard have renewed their long-standing partnership to deliver the Learning for Life training programme in Scotland for another three years. Launched in 2014, the initiative supports jobseekers into hospitality roles and helps the industry build a skilled and diverse workforce.
Learning for Life has helped thousands of people across Scotland gain practical hospitality training and develop the confidence needed to succeed in the workplace.
Chris Gamm, CEO of Springboard, said, “For 35 years, Springboard has changed lives by helping people from every background unlock their potential and find brighter futures. As we mark more than a decade of impact with Diageo, we reaffirm our commitment to shaping Scotland’s hospitality workforce for generations to come.”
Funded by Diageo and delivered by Springboard, the programme is expanding with new digital courses to improve access to training. A new course at a Scottish prison will also launch this year, providing hospitality skills to support future employment and reduce reoffending.
Gillian Dalziel, Learning for Life Programme Manager at Diageo, said, “This milestone is about more than celebrating the last ten years – it’s about building for the future. Together with Springboard, we are widening access through digital courses, breaking down barriers with initiatives like our new prison programme, and showcasing Scotland’s hospitality through a plethora of events.”
She added, “By responding to the real challenges our industry faces, Learning for Life continues to attract people from all walks of life, bringing the diversity, resilience, and creativity our industry needs to thrive.”
Recent highlights include The Drop, a trade showcase at the Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh, and a Burns Night event in London where learners gained experience at a high-profile industry gathering.
