Louise Maclean of Edinburgh-based hospitality firm Signature Group joined forces with Janet Nicol, owner of McGregor Hairdressing, to host a birthday fundraiser that raised £9,000 for Edinburgh breast cancer charity House of Hope which provides sanctuary, support and expert resources for people diagnosed with breast cancer.

Former Scotland international rugby union player Andy Nicol compered the evening, which featured a three-course meal, a fashion show by Tigerlily Boutique, live music from Bleeker and a live auction with donated prizes.

Louise Maclean said, “As a breast cancer survivor myself, this was a charity close to my chest in more ways than one! Lisa Fleming is a powerhouse of good, and supporting her House of Hope was a natural connection.

“The House of Hope needs to be seen to be believed, and only good things can come from such a centre of breast cancer excellence, knowledge and support.”

Janet Nicol added, “It was a privilege to raise money for House of Hope and an utter joy to throw such a great party with a philanthropic goal. I only wish birthdays came around more often so we could do it all again!”

Lisa Fleming, founder of House of Hope, said, “The House of Hope has become a much-needed haven for people living with primary and secondary breast cancer. As someone living with terminal breast cancer myself, I understand just how vital it is to have a safe, supportive space where people can access expert guidance, compassion and community.

“We rely on the kindness and generosity of people like Louise and Janet, whose incredible effort and spirit have helped us continue to grow as we approach our first anniversary.

“Their support means we can be there for more people when they need us most, offering hope, strength and understanding as well as physical support at every stage of their journey.”
