After 24 years, Vodka Wodka and Japanese restaurant Ramen Dayo have confirmed they are relocating to a larger, three-floor premises on Ashton Lane – formerly Innis & Gunn – on May 1 – and just across the lane from their current home.
Owners Fraser McIlwraith, Adam Strang and Paul Beveridge said they are delighted to have secured a new base just steps from their original spot. Says Fraser McIlwraith, “We are moving from No 31 to No 44–46 Ashton Lane. The premises are bigger and the move means we will be able to serve food in Vodka Wodka because we now have a kitchen. Meanwhile Ramen Dayo will take over the second floor. Paul is already working his magic and it will have 60 covers instead of 25. We will use the top floor for a function space and DJs at the weekends so it will become a real party space.”
“It’s exciting and the timing has been fortuitous as our lease was coming to an end. Despite efforts to reach an agreement with our landlord, we couldn’t stay there. However, the move to larger premises means all existing staff roles will be retained, with the team hoping to expand further once we open. It may be the end of an era, but it is the beginning of another.”
The final day of service at the current venue will be Thursday 30 April, with a closing weekend of offers and parties planned from 24 to 26 April.
Ramen Dayo first traded from a hand-built yatai ramen cart – with specialised parts imported from Tokyo – in Gordon Street Lane in 2016. In July 2017, it opened its first full restaurant nearby before expanding to Ashton Lane the following year.
While Vodka Wodka first opened in Paisley before establishing its Glasgow home on Ashton Lane in the early 2000s.
