A former gardener’s home in Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace Gardens is to reopen as a restaurant in May.
The 19th-century building will reopen as The Cottage at Royal Terrace under Peter Adshead and Head Chef Jamie Stapleton.
The restaurant will focus on seasonal menus using produce from its own garden, as well as ingredients from local foragers and suppliers of fresh fish, meat and produce. It said its overall approach would centre on quality and accessibility, with an evolving selection of natural and biodynamic wines.
Adshead, whose career has included Michelin-starred restaurants and Edinburgh five-star hotels, said, “Every guest will walk through our kitchen garden and into The Cottage to a warm welcome. You will find interesting, carefully chosen wines and food that celebrates the very best of Scotland’s larder.
“The Cottage is a unique and special place – a real symbol of calm within the bustle of the city – and we will work hard to make every visit a special and memorable one.”
