Co-owners of The Criterion bar in St Andrews, Steve and Hazel Latto, have teamed up with their local distillery, Tayport, to produce a gin to mark The Criterion’s 150th anniversary – the bar was established in 1874.
After noticing noticed a rise in berry-flavoured gins, the bar owners collaborated with Tayport Distillery’s Head Distiller, Alasdair McDougall, and launched their new blackcurrant-inspired gin – infused with local berries – last week.
The tasting notes described the flavour as “bursting with berry flavours, complemented by citrus and base notes of juniper.”
