Pizza Pilgrims is set to open on Glasgow’s West Nile Street at the end of the month and, following its Edinburgh debut last year, the launch will take the brand’s UK estate to 29 sites.

The new pizzeria extends to 359 square metres, with 107 covers indoors and a further 12 outside. In keeping with its Italian roots, the interiors have been inspired by Neapolitan back streets, with a central market-stall banquette with a striped canopy, an open kitchen, and walls layered with fly posters, graffiti and murals referencing Maradona and Sophia Loren.

It will be led by general manager Antimo Buonocore, who is in his 13th year with Pizza Pilgrims and is relocating from London to oversee the Glasgow operation.

Pizza Pilgrims said the restaurant will create 16 front and back of house jobs locally.

Founders Thom and James Elliot said, “After such a positive response to our Edinburgh opening, we’re incredibly excited to be bringing Pizza Pilgrims to Glasgow. The city has been on our hit list for years and has one of the most interesting and vibrant food and drink scenes in the UK, and we can’t wait to become part of it.”

The Glasgow menu will centre on the brand’s Neapolitan-style pizzas, made using its 72-hour double-fermented dough. Dishes will include the Margherita, Salsiccia e Friarielli and Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey, as well as the 8 Cheese and Carbonara, topped with strands of al dente spaghetti.

Pizza Pilgrims will officially open in Glasgow on Monday 27 April.
